Itinerary Details

Day 1 Arrival at Guwahati to Shillong - Arrival and Transfer

A hearty welcome to the city of Guwahati! Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by our representative at the airport/railway station. Then, you’ll be transported to Shillong.

En Route Visit:

On your way to Shillong, you get to visit the Don Bosco Museum, which provides an interesting peek into the history, culture, and life of the local Northeast Indian people. The building has seven storeys, each dedicated to the seven sister states of the Northeast - Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura. Please keep in mind that entry is on the basis of direct payment by the guest and the museum stays closed on public holidays.

Arrival in Shillong:

Upon arrival in Shillong, you’ll be checked into your pre-booked hotel in Shillong.

Day 2 Shillong Day excursion to Cherrapunji

After breakfast, you’ll be driven to Cherrapunjee. The picturesque town in Meghalaya is famously known as the wettest places on Earth. This is because it is the only place in India which receives rainfall all-around the year. Also known as Sohra, "the land of oranges", Cherrapunjee is nestled in the East Khasi Hills, lying approximately 50 km southwest of Shillong.

Sightseeing in Cherrapunjee:

Upon arrival in Cherrapunjee, you’ll be greeted with breathtaking views from the cliffs. Your trip includes:

  • Seven Sister Falls: Enjoy this stunning waterfall cascade, made up of seven segments.
  • Nohkalikai Falls: This beautiful waterfall is popular for its breathtaking scenery. It’s also the tallest plunge waterfall in India.
  • Mawsmai Cave: This fascinating cave houses awe-inspiring rock formations. Besides that, it’s one of the most popular limestone caves in the area.
  • Eco Park: This is a wonderful serene park to relish the natural beauty all around.

En Route:

In the evening, you’ll be transported back to your Shillong hotel. On your way there, a stop would be made at Elephant Falls, another majestic waterfall known for its picturesque landscapes and lush greenery.

Day 3 Shillong – Mawlynnong – Dawki Day Excursion

After having a hearty meal at the hotel in the morning, you are up for a day excursion in Mawlynnong, popularized as the cleanest village in Asia.

Next up is Jingmaham Living Root Bridge, a unique bridge testifying the incredible craftsmanship of the indigenous people.

Mawlynnong Village: Saunter in this charming village and enjoy the neat and clean surroundings. There are also stunning waterfalls along the way, so don’t forget to stop by.

Then, head to Dawki, a small town situated 34 km from Mawlynnong Village. It is located in the Jaintia Hills and is famous for its Umngot River, an exquisite travel essential.

Next is a thrilling boat ride on Umngot River. Take in the stunning views all around as you enjoy the boat ride. The waters are so crystal clear, you’ll feel like you’re floating over air.

Also, explore the nearby sites and discover hidden gems.

After this, you’ll be transported back to your hotel in Shillong. Enjoy a relaxing sleep for the night.

Day 4 Shillong to Guwahati - Transfer and Sightseeing

After breakfast in the morning, you’ll be transported to Guwahati. From there, you’ll get to visit the Assam State Museum (kindly note that it’s closed on public holidays), which showcases the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Next is a visit to Handloom Centre. Here, you can explore the authentic traditional craftsmanship of Assam, featuring the popular Muga, Eri, and Silk textiles.

In the evening, soak in the sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River (can be availed through direct payment).

After that, you’ll be transported back to the hotel where you can have a restful night’s sleep.

Day 5 Full-Day Guwahati City and Temple Tour

Today, you have a full day tour of Guwahati city ahead, comprising of temple tours and other natural sceneries. You can start as early as 6:30 AM and head straight to Kamakhya Temple, located at Nilachal Hill. This is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in the country, and therefore is a temple of high importance. We suggest purchasing a VIP pass from the temple counter in order to escape standing in the long queues. Each pass costs â‚č 501.

Later, you’ll be transported back to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 6 Guwahati – Departure

We hope you have made some wonderful memories. Your tour now concludes here. You’ll be dropped at Guwahati airport/ Railway station. From there on, you can continue your journey to home or other places of your choice, on your own.

Ans: Kaziranga National Park houses over 2,400 one-horned rhinos and has two-thirds of the total population of this species in the entire world. It has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its wide range of wildlife and breathtaking landscapes—from savannas to marshy wetlands. The park has been divided into four distinct zones- Bagori in the western range, Mihimukh in the central range, Agoratoli in the eastern range, and Ghorakati in Budhapara. Each of these zones has varied species of flora and fauna.

What is Mawlynnong known for?

Ans: Mawlynnong is a tiny hamlet in Meghalaya known for its clean environment and picturesque vistas. The village was tagged in 2003 by Discovery India magazine as ‘Asia’s cleanest village’. Khasi tribes mainly live in this village and the entire village has bamboo trash bins at different places. Mawlynnong village has been named ‘God’s Own Garden’ as every house has a garden with lush green trees and flowering plants. Littering, smoking, and plastic usage are strictly banned in the village. A few kilometers away from the Mawlynnong village is the balancing rock, a large boulder that rests on a smaller stone intriguing the onlookers.

What is Kamakhya Devi Temple known for?

Ans: Kamakhya Devi Temple is one of the most revered and significant pilgrimage sites in Guwahati, Assam. It is dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya who is believed to embody divine feminine energy. As per the legend, Kamakhya Temple was constructed on the site where Sati’s Yoni fell after the Sudarshan Chakra of Lord Vishnu dismembered her body. It has been built in ancient Indian temple architecture and on the top, it has a dome-shaped structure. Ambubachi Mela is celebrated here in the month of June.
