Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a holy monument and popular tourist attraction in Vavathurai, Kanyakumari, India. The memorial stands on one of two rocks situated just about 500 meters off mainland of Vavathurai, India’s southernmost tip. The memorial was believed to be built in 1970 by the Vivekananda Rock Memorial Committee in respect of the visit of the great spiritual teacher Swami Vivekananda. The Memorial commemorates the visit of Swami Vivekananda to “Shripada Parai” at the time of 24th, 25th and 26th December 1892 for deep meditation and enlightenment.

It is believed that Swami Vivekananda who had come to Kanyakumari on pilgrimage swam to the rock and spent the entire night there in deep meditation. The memorial mainly comprises of two main structures such as the Vivekananda Mandapam and the Shripada Mandapam. The Vivekananda Rock Memorial patently stands with a blend of all the architectural styles of India. A statue of Swamy Vivekananda has been set up within the memorial building.
